The Denver Broncos may play this Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers without quarterback Kyle Orton, who missed Wednesday’s practice because of injury to his left ankle.
While Orton told his teammates that his condition has improved daily, the team has been prepared for playing the game without him. Coach Josh McDaniels said there will be no changes to the game plan if backup Chris Simms replaces Orton to start Sunday’s game.
I do not think the Broncos should rush Orton back because worsened injury would cause him to miss even more games, including two most important games for this season: the game on Thanksgiving and AFC West showdown game. So it seems that Simms is very likely to start this Sunday. If so, the Broncos will anyway change some part of their game plan as Simms is a left-handed thrower.
